The experience
A small group hike through the Lapland wilderness with one or two Greenland dogs as genuine trail companions. They carry shared gear in panniers, freeing your back for the terrain. More importantly, they change the nature of the journey.
Walking with a working dog over several days is different from anything most people have experienced. The dog reads the landscape before you do. It notices things you miss. It responds to the group's energy honestly, without performance or pretense. Over time you begin to read it back — and that quiet exchange tends to stay with people long after the trip ends.
Summer in Lapland means long light, open ground, and a landscape that is neither hostile nor manicured. Rivers to cross, birch forests to move through, high ground to reach. Simple camp at the end of each day. Food, fire if conditions allow, the dogs settling nearby.

The dogs' role
Companions, not performers
The dogs carry shared weight — tent, food, group safety kit — which makes the difference between a comfortable trip and a hard one. But their role on the trail is more than logistical.
Greenland dogs are not bred to need you. They are bred to work with you. This means the relationship that develops over several days of shared movement is earned, not automatic. The dog that settles beside you at camp on day three has made a choice. That distinction is felt, even if it is hard to articulate.
We have noticed consistently that anxious people regulate differently in the presence of these dogs in the field. The dog's calm in unfamiliar terrain transfers in ways that no instruction or reassurance from a guide can replicate. We don't frame this as therapy. We simply create the conditions and let it happen.
